Experience and realization:
Creating the illusion of space with vibrant colors and motifs on two dimensional surfaces has always been the fascination as well as spontaneity to me in the process of involving me in making work of art. Two dimensional surfaces might comes in the form of a piece of paper or a slab of clay, where I find the means to the transformation of experience, realization and knowledge gathered through the long way of journey of life in to a visual spectrum.
Although my carrier to the visual language started with the dealing of three dimensionality, with real space in sculpture, I discovered that I feel more comfortable, spontaneity and meaningful with the creation of space on the two dimensional surface, - the fictitious space better to say the illusion of real space and form.
In the process of making a visual language immediate surroundings have always been playing a major role for the construction of space, form, subjectivity, and motif here. Consciously or subconsciously I inherited the usage of multiple perspectives with linear quality from the age old rich miniature painting of Indian tradition, but tried to apply here with the flavor of modernism of Indian society, culture, fashion and politics.
Art practice should not be a difficult or problematic for any creative person, this should have been a free expression of thoughts, skill of handling a particular tangible media, and should have been representing the society where the creator lives, economy, political changes , regional as well as global context and solution of all sorts of problems .humanity and realty has been dominating the periphery of visual representation in the from selection the motif and subject which is evident once one go through my recent body of works
The philosophy of practicing art has been virtually related to the concern of time and space, when and where an artist belongs to; because each and every school or sort of art of every century and country related to the context of a particular time and particular place, situation. The significance and importance of it (art) is evaluated in the course of time later. (DIBYENDU DEY)
